  • Tribalco’s Soldier Survival Division Achieves CMMI Level 2 Rating

Tribalco, LLC, a global provider of mission-critical information technology, integrated telecommunications, and soldier survival services and solutions, announced that its Soldier Survival Division, known as Division 6, has earned its first Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level 2 rating. This is the first time that this division of Tribalco has sought CMMI appraisal. Tribalco has maintained a CMMI Level 2 rating for services since 2009 for its other divisions.

CMMI is a framework of best practices for managing, measuring, and monitoring business processes across an organization. By providing guidance that enables companies to develop or improve their processes, CMMI helps organizations meet their business goals, and ultimately improve their performance. Increasingly, government procurement offices view CMMI as a discriminator among companies as they assess competitive bids.

Tribalco’s Division 6 provides specialized operational equipment and tactical combat casualty solutions for the warfighter. As DoD’s exclusive supplier for Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and Casualty Evacuation (CASEVAC) sets, Division 6 specializes in the design, integration, and lifecycle management of cutting-edge, battlefield-tested medical care solutions for the forward-deployed special operator. Tribalco’s TCCC portfolio includes engineering, procurement, warehousing/sparing, kitting, and training/support capabilities.

“Our pursuit of a CMMI appraisal for Division 6 shows Tribalco’s commitment to delivering quality practices to support our customers’ operations,” said Michele Friedman, Tribalco’s Chief Operating Officer. “More importantly, earning this rating, demonstrates that our processes can stand up to the rigor and discipline required to support the critical missions of warfighters in the field.”

The appraisal, performed by a CMMI Institute-Certified Lead Appraiser, involved an extensive evaluation of Tribalco’s Soldier Survival Division’s project performance and the processes it uses to address the needs of its military customers. The two service types covered by Division 6’s appraisal were training and kit assembly from procurement through shipping. The appraisal included seven process areas: configuration management, measurement and analysis, process and product quality assurance, service delivery, work planning, work monitoring and control, and supplier agreement management. Earning this rating indicates that Division 6 executes its processes consistently on all projects.

“Quality execution is a core value for Tribalco across all of our projects, but it is especially important when we are delivering solutions to support combat medics on the front lines,” said Jeremy Catrone, Tribalco Soldier SurvivalDivision Director of Operations. “Our CMMI Level 2 rating demonstrates the importance that Tribalco places on institutionalizing our quality practices to support our customers’ operational readiness.”

In addition to being CMMI appraised, Tribalco is ISO 9001:2008 certified. As a part of its formal quality program, Tribalco applies rigorous enterprise-wide quality standards using a unique Quality Management System (QMS). The foundation of Tribalco’s QMS is its proprietary Quality Execution Success Toolkit (QUEST™), a rigid project management lifecycle methodology that yields repeatable and successful outcomes for customers.

“Government agencies continue to seek out CMMI appraised businesses,” said Friedman. “We are pleased to add this quality rating as a further differentiator for Tribalco’s Division 6.”

  • Tribalco Showcases Golden Hour Medic

Tribalco Soldier Survival Division Showcases Golden Hour Medic

Mobile Golden Hour™ Medic enables combat medics to transport life-saving medical materials at critical temperatures.

In May, Tribalco attended both the Special Operations Medical Association Scientific Assembly (SOMSA) in Charlotte, NC and the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC) in Tampa, FL. At the shows, Tribalco exhibited its Soldier Survival services and solutions; talked with Special Operations Forces (SOF) members, current customers, and vendors; and met new customers.

SOF members, medics, and other military and industry representatives who stopped by Tribalco’s booths were able to interact with Tribalco’s team of former tactical operators who possess unique knowledge in areas related to soldier survival. They also received hands-on demonstrations of Tribalco’s tactical medical equipment and learned more about Tribalco’s Soldier Survival solutions.

Div-6, Tribalco’s Soldier Survival Division, specializes in providing operational equipment and tactical combat casualty solutions for the warfighter. Their products, including the Golden Hour™ Medic, a new product developed in partnership with Pelican BioThermal, continue to raise the bar on the standard of care in pre-hospital battlefield medicine for the wounded operator. Tribalco and Pelican BioThermal jointly marketed this life-saving product at the tradeshows.

The Golden Hour™ Medic is a combat-portable medic pack that holds blood and other chilled medical supplies for two days in harsh conditions and up to three days in standard environments. Based on the technology used in the award-winning Golden Hour™ Mobile container, Golden Hour™ Medic is designed to be carried on a person, allowing combat medics and other military medical personnel to transport blood products to locations that vehicles may not be able to reach.

In a press release issued by Pelican BioThermal, Vice President of Worldwide Sales Kevin Lawler stated, “Tribalco is a great fit for us as strategic partners. They helped us define requirements for what’s really needed in the field, involving military field personnel for testing and design feedback. This partnership allows us to deliver a better solution to combat medics on the front lines.”

Tribalco’s products undergo constant revision through a vetted spiral development process. Tribalco Soldier Survival Division Director of Operations Jeremy Catrone explained that talking to SOF members and medics who have used Tribalco’s products in the field makes a tremendous impact on the development and enhancement of the company’ s Soldier Survival solutions.

In the release, Catrone said, “The feedback we receive from the decision makers in the special operations medicine field is invaluable. Attending shows like SOMSA and SOFIC provides the opportunity to get feedback from medical advisors and better define operational needs. We are then able to collaborate with Pelican BioThermal to develop specific products focused on one goal; saving the lives of our troops.”

The Golden Hour™ Medic was been positively received by SOMSA and SOFIC attendees and has received a significant amount of industry and military interest.
